Genesis describes the creation of heavens, the earth and human beings, and thus gives a picture of God’s eternal purpose from the beginning. It shows mankind’s fall and the flood, which judged the earth. It also shows God’s working with man after the fall and flood. In Abraham we see God’s calling of mankind to live a life of faith, in Isaac we see rest and enjoyment in following God, and in Jacob and Joseph we see a life of being transformed from a conniver to become a person who blesses others with God’s blessing.
