The Flesh and the Spirit Part 1

Galatians 3:3
Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?
Galatians 5:13
For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for
the flesh, but through love serve one another.
Galatians 5:16–25
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the
flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.
1 Corinthians 3:1–4
But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants
in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet
ready, 3 for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the
flesh and behaving only in a human way? 4 For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not being merely
human?
Romans 8:5-8
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6 For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. 7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. 8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
