How Sweet The Name of Jesus Sounds

Words: John Newton
Music: J. C. Lowry

1.
How sweet the Name of Jesus sounds
In a believer’s ear!
It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds,
And drives away his fear.
And drives away his fear.
And drives away his fear.
It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds,
And drives away his fear.

2.
It makes the wounded spirit whole,
And calms the troubled breast;
’Tis manna to the hungry soul,
And to the weary, rest;
And to the weary, rest,
And to the weary, rest;
’Tis manna to the hungry soul,
And to the weary, rest.

3.
Dear Name, the Rock on which we build,
Our Shield and Hiding Place,
Our never failing treasury, filled
With boundless stores of grace!
With boundless stores of grace,
With boundless stores of grace;
Our never failing treasury, filled
With boundless stores of grace!

4.
Jesus! Our Savior, Shepherd, Friend,
Our Prophet, Priest and King,
Our Lord, our Life, our Way, our End,
Accept the praise we bring;
Accept the praise we bring,
Accept the praise we bring;
Our Lord, our Life, our Way, our End,
Accept the praise we bring.

5.
Weak is the effort of our heart,
And cold our warmest thought;
But when we see Thee as Thou art,
We’ll praise Thee as we ought;
We’ll praise Thee as we ought,
We’ll praise Thee as we ought;
But when we see Thee as Thou art,
We’ll praise Thee as we ought.

6.
Till then we would Thy love proclaim
With every fleeting breath,
And triumph in that blessed Name
Which quells the pow’r of death!
Which quells the pow’r of death,
Which quells the pow’r of death;
And triumph in that blessed Name
Which quells the pow’r of death!

I’ll Go Where You Want Me To Go

Words: Mary Brown (Revised)
Music: Carrie E. Rounsefell

1.
It may not be on the mountain’s height,
Or over the stormy sea;
It may not be at the battle’s front
My Lord will have need of me;
But if, by a still quiet voice, He calls
To paths I do surely not know,
I’ll answer, dear Lord,
With my hand holding Yours,
I’ll go where You want me to go.

Chorus
I’ll go where You want me to go, dear Lord,
O’er mountain, or plain, or sea;
I’ll say what You want me to say, dear Lord,
I’ll be what You want me to be.

2.
Perhaps today there are loving words
Which Jesus would have me speak;
There may be now, in the paths of sin,
Some wand’rer whom I should seek.
O Savior, if Thou wilt e’er be my Guide,
Though cloudy and rugged the way,
My voice shall then echo the message so sweet,
I’ll say what You want me to say.

3.
There’s surely somewhere a lowly place
In earth’s harvest fields so wide,
Where I may labor through life’s short day
For Jesus, the Crucified.
So, trusting my all to Your tender care,
I know that You always love me!
I’ll follow Your will with a heart so sincere,
I’ll be what You want me to be.

I’d Rather Have Jesus

Words: Rhea F. Miller
Music: George Beverly Shea

1.
I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands.
I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand.

Chorus
Than to be the king of a vast domain
And be held in sin’s dread sway.
I’d rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.

2.
I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause;
I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I’d rather have Jesus than worldwide fame.
I’d rather be true to His holy name.

3.
He’s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
He’s sweeter than honey from out the comb;
He’s all that my hungering spirit needs.
I’d rather have Jesus and let Him lead.

Message

“Knowing Jesus”

Message given by Daniel Schmitkons on May 15, 2022

John 9:1-3
1 As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him

John 9:6b-7
6b Then he anointed the man’s eyes with the mud 7 and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means Sent). Sohe went and washed and came back seeing.

John 9:11
He answered, “The man called Jesus made mud and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed and received my sight.”

John 9:16-17
16 Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.” But others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” And there was a division among them. 17 So they said again to the blind man, “What do you say about him, since he has opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophet.

John 9:24-27
24 So for the second time they called the man who had been blind and said to him, “Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.” 25 He answered, “Whether he is a sinner I do not know. One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.” 26 They said to him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?” 27 He answered them, “I have told you already, and you would not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become his disciples?”

John 9:29-38
29 We know that God has spoken to Moses, but as for this man, we do not know where he comes from.” 30 The man answered, “Why, this is an amazing thing! You do not know where he comes from, and yet he opened my eyes. 31 We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him. 32 Never since the world began has it been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a man born blind. 33 If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.” 34 They answered him, “You were born in utter sin, and would you teach us?” And they cast him out. 35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and having found him he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” 36 He answered, “And who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?” 37 Jesus said to him, “You have seen him, and it is he who is speaking to you.” 38 He said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.
