Nehemiah describes the third wave of people who returned to Jerusalem 13 years after Ezra journeyed there to teach the Law. Nehemiah, overcomes much opposition in many forms from the people around the city, and builds the wall. The book describes an inspiring story of the people all working together, some fighting and some building and some ready to do both, so that the wall, the testimony and definition of God’s work in the city, could be solid and firm. The people gather to read the law and practice the feast of tabernacles for the first time since Joshua. The wall gave shape and definition and testimony to God’s work and the lives of the people reflect something solid of God’s work on earth.
