The church is Christ’s body. When a person believes in him, he brings that person into a church, making them part of his body. Just as a hand or foot cannot walk off and live apart from the body, a Christian cannot simply cease to be part of Christ’s body. You might stop going to a church, but once you’re in, you’re stuck. Just as a body needs all of its parts, the church needs everyone that Christ connects to it. Regardless of how you feel about yourself, you have an important and distinct function. Each part is vital, necessary, and valuable.
