Unbelievers are alienated from the life of God, dead in sins
Ephesians 4:17–19
So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, 18being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart; 19and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.
Ephesians 2:1
And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,
Jesus came that we might have life
John 10:10
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
In Christ’s resurrection, we have been given life
John 12:24–25
“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. 25“He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal.
1 Peter 1:3–4

We are joined to Him in resurrection that we might have life
Ephesians 2:5–6

Life is knowing and possessing Christ Himself
Romans 8:10
If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness.
