At Cleveland Heights Church, we believe that every believer should grow and mature in their Christian walk. So every Sunday morning, we spend one hour to cover one of four essential areas in which every Christian should grow — knowing the Word of God - the Bible, Serving the Lord in the church, presenting the Gospel to others, and developing an Inner Life with Jesus. These growth classes seek to advance each person along with the Lord in each of these four areas.
Growth classes begin at 9:30am every Sunday morning before our main 11am Worship Service.
Faith comes through hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
— Romans 10:17let the word of Christ richly dwell within you . . .
— Colossians 3:16
It’s hard to imagine a growing Christian life without a life of growing in knowledge of the Word of God.
The Bible is profitable for teaching us, correcting us, and making us wise in the salvation God has given us. This class focuses on discussions of topics in the Word of God ranging from great visions like the church, salvation, and the person of Christ to book studies and studies to find the meanings of words like grace, mercy, and sanctification. As we hear the word, especially the difficult passages of the word, we are challenged and our faith grows more and more.
So also you, since you are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek to abound for the edification of the church
— I Corinthians 14:12Whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies
— I Peter 4:11
Eventually every healthy Christian realizes that Christ is for more than just “ME.” Every Christian who is growing desires to serve God.
We believe that every member of the church is able to contribute their service for the building up of the church. Service is not only for the building up of the church but also for our testimony to the world we live in. We serve in new- ness of spirit and with the strength and joy which only God can give. This class seeks to develop your service in the church. You will discuss the Bible’s view of service and find a field where you can apply the gifts that God has given you.
But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence.
— I Peter 3:15
At Cleveland Heights church we seek ways to present the gospel, the truth of Jesus Christ, in many settings. These include events produced by the church, like fairs, dinners, bookstores etc. and relationships in our personal lives. However, it may take some preparation to present Jesus’ sal- vation to another person in that time of need. This class seeks to clarify what salvation is and to equip you to present the gospel to friends, relatives, co-workers, strangers, and all who are around you.
... so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith
— Ephesians 3:17Do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you — unless indeed you fail the test?
— II corinthians 13:5
